Children’s Council

At CHILDREN, children can take part in the decision making process. In the five children’s advisory boards decisions are regularly made about grants up to 1,500 Euros. Through these meetings, our goal is to offer children an insight into social work and motivate them to actively grapple with the problems in Germany and globally.

Children in an age range from 8 to 18 appropriate allocations from the CHILDREN emergency funds. In the meetings, they discuss what takes priority within smaller projects and individual cases. This process simultaneously teaches them how to evaluate aid projects. They are allowed to allocate up to 1,500 Euros towards a project, and decide how to manage and use the available budget. As of today, these advisory boards exist in Munich, Cologne and Berlin. They are lead by the following individuals: Ulrike Langenscheidt (Munich), Irmgard Gaudig (Cologne), Angelika Oelmann (Berlin) and Joana Breidenbach (Berlin). Most recently, a Children’s Council was formed in Hanau which is being led by Heike Noll.
